Hot Water Heat Pumps Were Recently Chosen to Install Four Performance Plus Heat Pumps at Christchurch Airport

With a reputation for its environmental policies and an ongoing commitment to sustainability, Christchurch International Airport doesn't make decisions around its energy usage lightly. As the first airport company in the Southern Hemisphere to achieve carbon neutral status and as one of only two carbon neutral airport companies in the world, Christchurch Airport have continuously demonstrated and been recognised for their commitment and belief in a cleaner, greener approach to their operations.

In keeping with this environmentally friendly approach, Hot Water Heat Pumps were recently chosen to install four Performance Plus Heat Pumps at the airport to maintain the 3.6MW of water chillers reliably supplying hot and cold water to the public washrooms and amenities. Working in pairs, each unit has a maximum output of 23 kilowatts and input of only 5kW depending on climate conditions. HWHP's Kevin Trigg explains, "With upwards of 11,720 litres of water per day requiring heating to a temperature of 60C, the Hot Water Heating Solution needed to be both efficient and reliable to provide total peace of mind to Airport operations staff and their customers".

The units are extremely durable and have a long life expectancy, making them perfect for commercial applications such as this.
