We are delighted and very
proud to finally let everyone know that we are sponsoring Helena Gasson.
Helena Gasson is a 23 year old New Zealand swimmer who
competes in butterfly and freestyle. She is a member of the Coast Swim Club and
trains at Northern Arena. Helena is an accomplished swimmer with an extensive
history of representing New Zealand.
Helena won the silver medal for the 200m butterfly at the New
Zealand Open Championships in 2013 and 2014, plus a silver in the 2014
individual medley. In 2014, she also won silver and bronze at the Oceania
Championships. In 2015, Helena won four national titles and represented New
Zealand at the World University Games in South Korea.
In 2016, Helena broke the New Zealand record in the 100m and
200m butterfly. At the Oceania Championships Helena won seven gold medals and
two silver medals. She also made her Olympic debut at the Rio Summer Olympic
Games. In 2017, she competed at the FINA World Swimming Championships in
Budapest and held 9 NZ Open titles.
Our sponsorship allows Helena to travel more easily to
international competitions and enhances her ability to focus on her routine and
lead-up to competitions. Helena commented, "I am very excited and grateful
to be partnered up with Hot Water Heat Pumps for my swimming journey as I
tackle the world stage."
Helena recently competed for New Zealand in her first
Commonwealth Games held on the Gold Coast to compete in the 50m, 100m and 200m
butterfly, the 100m freestyle relay and the 100m medley relay. The New Zealand
team she was a part of only just missed out on a medal, coming 4th in the
freestyle relay.
The next major focus for Helena is the Pan Pacific Masters
Games which will also be on the Gold Coast in November 2018.
